Choquequirao trek in Peru

The Choquequirao trek is a new, remote and most beautiful trail in the Cusco region also known as the Vilcabamba region. Indeed, it is probably the most famous trek to the last retreat of the Incas. Choquequirao trek is famous for its spectacular mountain views and friendliness of its inhabitants. Choquequirao is also known as “Cradle of Gold”. The Choquequirao trek offers a unique experience with panoramic views of the world’s most beautiful mountains and canyons. It is one of the most inspiring places in the world and trekking is possible all year round but the best times to visit are March to November.

“Choquequirao” , means “Cradle of Gold” in Quechua language, although this is probably not its original name. “Choquequirao” was built during the last days of the Inca Empire in the government of the Inca Pachacutec 1436; the construction of the different levels of temples, palaces, canals and aqueducts is really fantastic. “Choquequirao” is the city which demonstrates the inspiring example of an elite Inca ceremonial center.
