Inca Trail Adventure

The city of Cusco – Inca Trail Adventure

The “Inca Trail Adventure” starts once you arrive to Cusco at any time; however, we must know your flight details; our staff will meet you at the airport and transfer you to the designated hotel. Enjoy the city (optional guided city tour in the afternoon from 01:30 p.m to 06:30 p.m). Cusco is the continent’s oldest continuously inhabited city.

The city of Cusco attracts travellers who come not just to visit a unique destination but also to experience an age-old culture very different from their 20th century way of life; this lovely Inca and colonial town offers much to the visitor with its nearby ruins, cobble-stoned streets, museums, churches and lively atmosphere.

Among the more adventurous optional activities available in Cusco are: city tour around archaeological sites such as Sacsayhuaman, Qenqo, Tambomachay and Puca Pucara; white water rafting on Urubamba River; and mountain bike down to the Sacred Valley of the Incas; There are several good museums in Cusco like: the Archaeological Museum, Art Museum, the Regional History Museum and the Religious Art Museum. The city of Cusco is situated in the Peruvian Andes at 3,400 masl. Cusco developed, under the Inca ruler Inca Pachakutec, into a complex urban centre with distinct religious and administrative functions.

In the time of the Incas, Cusco was surrounded by clearly delineated areas for agricultural, artisan and industrial production. When the Spaniards conquered it in the 16th century, they preserved the basic structure but built Baroque churches and palaces over the ruins of the Inca city.

DAY 2: Sacred Valley of the Incas

Inca Trail Adventure

The sacred valley of the Incas – Inca Trail Adventure

Today the tour begins at 08:30 a.m once we’ll pick you up from the hotel and travel toward through the Andes toward the Sacred Valley of the Incas which was an important cradle of food for the Incas, the Sacred Valley is a lush of agricultural region that continues to supply the city of Cusco with much of its production especially with corn and vegetables. We’ll visit the extraordinary Pisac Inca ruins and the traditional and colourful artisan market where you can purchase some handicrafts directly from the producers.

Visit Pisaq

Pisac is a Peruvian village located at the beginning of the Sacred Valley, in the bank of the Willkanuta River, it is a well known for its local and picturesque daily market.

The area is perhaps best known for its Incan ruins, known as Inca Písac, which lie atop a hill at the entrance to the valley. Pisaq Inca ruins are separated along the ridge into four groups: P’isaqa, Inti Watana, Qalla Q’asa, and Kinchiraqay. Inti Watana group includes the Temple of the Sun, baths, altars, water fountains, a ceremonial platform, and an inti watana, a volcanic outcrop carved into a “hitching post for the Sun” (or Inti). The angles of its base suggest that it served to define the changes of the seasons. Qalla Q’asa, which is built onto a natural spur and overlooks the valley, is known as the citadel.

The Inca constructed agricultural terraces on the steep hillside, which are still in use today. They created the terraces by hauling richer topsoil by hand from the lower lands. The terraces enabled the production of surplus food, more than would normally be possible at altitudes as high as 11,000 feet.

Visit Ollantaytambo

Ollantaytambo is a town and an Inca archaeological site located in the heart of the sacred Valley in Peru ; some 60 kilometers northwest of the city of Cusco. During the Inca Empire, Ollantaytambo was the royal estate of Emperor Pachacuti who conquered the region, built the town and a ceremonial center. At the time of the Spanish conquest of Peru it served as a stronghold for Manco Inca Yupanqui, leader of the Inca resistance. Nowadays it is an important tourist attraction on account of its Inca buildings and as one of the most common starting points for the four-day, three-night hike known as the Inca Trail.
